Two common examples of bad-sounding rooms that you're probably familiar with are gymnasiums and tiled bathrooms. The good news is that by implementing the proper acoustical treatments, you can make even the worst-sounding room good enough to yield world-class sound. Controlling reflections within a room yields truer sound and allows the "real" sound of an instrument, voice or loudspeaker to come through. The D36 Designer Series Roominator Kit offers you a starting point to reduce unwanted slap and flutter echo, two of the most common sound problems, in your room. Think of all the creative possibilities these kits afford you as you begin to tune your room. Add some Auralex LENRD bass traps to help optimize your room. I used this in a 13x13 studio in a converted bedroom. It's only use is studio work. IE no furniture, just studio desk, drums, instruments, etc. I needed a way to clean up the multipath phasing issues you get in any small room. The box arrived well packed but the foam was a little squished. You may need to let it rest out of the box a day or two before installing so it regains it's shape. The instructions show a few ideas for arrangement and placing the adhesive and that's it. The adhesive it comes with looks like peanut butter and probably sticks about as well. I applied it sparingly but it wasn't nearly enough to do all of the panels. Part of the problem is the adhesive is not very viscous so it doesn't spread very thin when bonding. It just kind of sits there only gluing that immediate part.I had a little trouble getting the ceiling panels to stick but so far 6 months later I have no fallen panels. The wall panels were glued to foam core poster board and the poster board was then stapled to the wall so I can re-position the panels easily. How well do they work?IT's not a magic lamp that makes all your audio sound better. But it makes an appreciable difference. Even recording video n my cell phone I noticed how much better audio recordings in the room sound. If you do it right it will make even a cheap cellphone microphone sound like a studio mic.I put up just enough of the stuff to block first reflection distortion from sides and ceiling. The room is still alive with no dead spots but it's ambience and reverberation are much less noticable in a recording now, especially when close micing.Another plus is my drums sound great now and audio recordings of my acoustic guitar sound almost 3 dimensional without all the multipath distortion.
