This stuff is simply incredible, if you’re doing low and slow cooking or have a Kamado type grill, look no further. The lump wood chunks are exactly that, no pointless dusty rubbish grit in high street bags of charcoal. It does burn a little faster than other large lump woods, but then that really is splitting hairs as it easily fuelled a 10 hour cook @ 110C with plenty to spare at the end. Low ash when it burns down is always a plus too... and being available on prime!I waited till the BBQ season was over to review this. I thought the bag would be done by then, but here we're in Dec and I still have some left :DWhat a great bag of charcoal.. big beautiful chunks, of course there are smaller bits, but I've been in the UK for three years and this is by MILES the best charcoal I ever got in terms of size. If you have a charcoal chimny life is easy, lights up quickly with couple of fire starters, the coals stay hot for a good 2-3 hours I'd say (of course heat gets lower and lower). No issues with smell or taste with the meat. I love it, and I'll definitely buy another one next year. This lumpwood has had some great reviews which was a selling point but the bag i got has been terrible. The lumps are a good size and not very much in the way of dust and tiny pieces. This was a plus but what made it unusable is the dirty smell that wafts out during cooking. Its a vile chemical smell that finds its way into the food. Its like someone used very cheap and nasty firelights and kept throwing them in randomly. I have tried two BBQs, Kettle and a Kamado to see if it was the same and unfortunately it is. I have disposed of this lumpwood and certainly couldn't recommend it to anyone who didn't want their food tainted.During lockdown we could not stock up with our usual charcoal from a trade outlet and I don't like briquettes and even most of those I could find were the "quick lighting" type which I don't need as our barbeque has a gas system for lighting the charcoal. This natural charcoal does not burn as long as briquettes but burns a lot hotter and is ideal for a good steaks. In comparison with our normal purchase these were the same price (without us needing to travel to buy) and the same quality. One thing to note is that this type of charcoal comes in very varying sized lumps and we keep a hammer handy to break up the larger pieces. Same with this as our normal purchase. Will definitely buy again. Much easier than travelling to the trade outlet for the same product at the same price.Best charcoal we've ever bought - by far. If that seems a bit excessive, it's not......we've tried all sorts of bags, always using a BBQ starter chimney thing and this charcoal is the best at getting going quickly and is white hot and ready to use in about 20minutes [depends if you fill the chimney right up]. We 3/4 filled the starter chimney, when the BBQ coals were turned out the temperature shot straight to 225c, stayed there for 10 minutes or so and gradually dropped to around 200c which is when we started cooking. Even after we finished cooking the temperature stayed at 175c / 150c for ages so we could have kept cooking for at least another hour or so after we finished, and even then there was enough heat to keep food warm [or slow cook big joints of meat - which we'll be doing next].One very very small point - when it initials lights there are sparks that come off the top for a few minutes, but that's part of the fun of BBQing so no big deal at all.Definite re-buy
